Polly Ann Basta, 73, of Marion, formerly Royalton, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2025, at SIH Herrin Hospital.
Polly was born on April 22, 1951, in Herrin, to Stephen Hill and Juanita (Hodge). She was united in marriage to Mark Basta on December 13, 1992, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. They've shared 32 years of marriage together.
Polly attended Herrin High School and later continued her education at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where she earned her Master's degree in social work. She was retired having been a drug counselor for many years at Illinois Youth Correctional Prison in Harrisburg.
Polly loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. She had a heart for animals, especially horses. She enjoyed watching sports, playing games, and spending time with her family.
Polly is survived by her husband, Mark Basta of Royalton; children, James (Brandy) Sord of Herrin, Golda Marshall of Ewing, and Michael Sord of Marion; ten grandchildren; siblings, Bob Hill,
