Wayne C. Pirtle, age 95, of Marion, IL, formerly of West Frankfort, IL passed away peacefully at 2:36 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Brighton Gardens of St. Charles in St. Charles, IL.
He was born in Grand Tower, IL on September 10, 1929, the son of Carl Henry and Frances Rebecca (East) Pirtle.
Wayne attended school in West Frankfort and was a graduate of West Frankfort High School Class of 1947. Following graduation, he took some vocational education courses and evening courses at Southern Illinois University of Carbondale, IL.
He answered the call of this nation by serving in the United States Army from 1948 to 1949. He was discharged for a short time in 1949 and was recalled into active duty again in 1950 and served for 1 year in Korea. After his period of faithful service, he was honorably discharged in September of 1951 with the rank of Private First Class.
