Katherine L. Mandrell, age 94, of rural Thompsonville, IL passed away peacefully at 6:25 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 in Parkway Manor of Marion, IL.
She was born on August 6, 1930 in West Frankfort, IL the daughter of Clarence Edward and Helen Jessie (Boal) Uselton.
Katherine was raised in the Buckner, IL area and attended school through the 8th grade in Buckner and was class Valedictorian, something she was very proud of. Later in her life she completed her GED degree.
At the age of 16, she was united in marriage to Mearl Mandrell on September 6, 1946 in Franklin County, IL and together they shared over 55 years of marriage until his death in January of 2002.
Early in her working career she worked in production at Sangamo Electric, located in the Ordill area west of Marion, IL. Later she began working as a seamstress for the Joan Clair Dress Factory of Benton, IL. While working at the dress factory she served a Shop Stewart representing the employees of the Union.
