Bob Thomas was born on April 15, 1930, and passed away on June 29, 2024. He grew up in West Frankfort. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1954. He was introduced to Joyce at a bowling alley in Benton, and they married in September 1969. Bob was active in the community and owned a flooring installation business. He was a small plane private pilot and built his own fixed-wing glider. He was an avid fisherman, spending many hours on local farm ponds and rivers in New Zealand, Utah and Idaho. Bob's favorite pastimes included fish fries with family and friends, watching the St. Louis Cardinals (especially if they won), and any television Western.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Thomas.
Bob is survived by sons Raymond (Lisa) Thomas and Greg Thomas (Hollie Brown); sister Judith Prock; grandchildren Zachary (Laura) Thomas, MaryAnn Thomas (Matt McCall), and Elijah Thomas; and great-grandchildren Adalyn and Lucy.
